Gwanak-gu Delivers 'Agricultural Produce Packages' to Homes of Over 30,000 Elementary, Middle, and High School Students
Providing in-kind deliveries and online coupons to all elementary, middle, high school, and special school students' households... Supporting farms affected by school meal suspensions and contributing to student health improvement and reducing parents' burden
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) is participating in the ‘Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Package Support Project’ to support agricultural producers affected by the suspension of school meals and to promote students’ health and reduce the burden on parents.
The district plans to provide eco-friendly agricultural product packages to the homes of approximately 30,000 students across all grades of elementary, middle, high, and special schools.
The district is implementing this project in cooperation with Seoul City and the Office of Education, sharing the available budget for free meal food costs caused by school closures and online classes due to COVID-19.
The items included in the agricultural product packages will be decided in consultation with the Office of Education and schools, and will be delivered either through direct shipment or coupon distribution. More detailed implementation plans will be developed later, considering the convenience and effectiveness for parents and suppliers.
In particular, quality will be inspected at the production site of the agricultural product packages to ensure that fresh and high-quality ingredients are provided with utmost effort.
Mayor Park Junhee stated, “We hope that the support of the agricultural product packages will help improve students’ health, reduce the burden on parents, and support farmers and distributors affected by the situation. The district will mobilize all administrative resources to overcome COVID-19 and do its best to help residents return to their daily lives as soon as possible.”
