A petition demanding the dismissal of the teacher has been posted on the Blue House National Petition board.
The teacher had assigned the same task last year and uploaded the homework results along with the phrase "sexy panties" on their YouTube channel. The controversy intensified as the teacher left comments such as "princess" and "embarrassed" on the underwear photos shared by the students.
On the 28th, a petition titled "Requesting the dismissal of male teacher Kim** who assigned underwear washing homework to elementary students and repeatedly committed sexual harassment" was posted on the Blue House National Petition board.
The petitioner stated, "A story was posted on an online community board about a male teacher who assigned a homework task to a first-grade elementary student to post photos of washing panties on social network services (SNS) and then sexually harassed them in the comments." They added, "This male teacher carelessly used inappropriate expressions for first graders such as 'charming and sexy friend' and 'our princess, your pink underwear is pretty' in the comments on the homework band."
They continued, "The parent who posted the story reported it to the education office, but no action was taken against the teacher, and only a response of remorse was received."
Furthermore, "The male teacher referred to himself as a school dad who plays with students on his personal YouTube channel and uploaded a video where he lifted a female student's leg upside down to exercise his own leg," they explained. "Although the video has been deleted, he also posted photos of students' underwear without permission."
They added, "After the story spread online, the teacher sent absurd excuses to parents and even texted them asking to delete the posts." They noted, "Currently, shocking testimonies from past victims about this male teacher continue to pour in the comment sections."
Finally, the petitioner urged, "The teacher himself does not recognize any problems with his inappropriate behavior. This is clear sexual harassment and a grooming sexual crime targeting young elementary students and vulnerable individuals. We hope this unqualified sexual offender teacher will be dismissed from the teaching profession."
The incident was first revealed through a post on an online community board by someone claiming to be a parent of an elementary school student the day before.
According to the poster, the first-grade homeroom teacher, Mr. A, recently assigned homework under the pretext of filial piety, requiring students to wash their underwear and upload verification photos. He left comments such as "charming and sexy friend," "our princess, your pink underwear is pretty," "pretty pajamas, pretty underwear(?) embarrassed," and "underwear is pretty" on the posts.
It was also confirmed that Mr. A assigned the same task to students he taught last year. After editing the students' photos into a video, he uploaded it to his YouTube channel titled "sexy panties, washing by oneself." Currently, all of Mr. A's YouTube videos and SNS posts have been deleted.
As the controversy grew, Mr. A issued a statement saying, "It was a mistake to assign such homework without sufficient communication with parents," and "If the phrase 'sexy panties' caused misunderstandings, I will refrain from mentioning such expressions in the future."
