LG Display Selected as an Outstanding Company for Both 'Climate Change Response and Water Management'
Over 1.2 Million Tons of Greenhouse Gas Reduced Annually for 3 Consecutive Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] LG Display announced on the 28th that it has received the Excellence Award in both the 'Climate Change Response' and 'Water Management' evaluation categories selected by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Korea Committee.
LG Display explained that it was the only company in the IT sector to achieve Leadership A in the Climate Change Response category. It also achieved the distinction of being selected for the 'Carbon Management Honors Club,' which recognizes the top five companies, for three consecutive years.
This result was achieved by installing reduction facilities capable of decomposing sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gas, which has a higher global warming potential than carbon dioxide, used in the display manufacturing process, or by replacing it with gases that have a lower global warming potential, thereby reducing over 1.2 million tons of greenhouse gases annually for three consecutive years.
In addition, LG Display is implementing various energy-saving efforts such as introducing a smart control system for chillers and producing chilled water using cold air during winter to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
It is also receiving positive evaluations for its efforts to strengthen efficient water resource management.
