KT Supports School Meal Providers Hit by 'COVID-19'... Selling 'Agricultural Produce Packages'
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT is selling ‘Love Agricultural Produce Packages’ purchased from meal supply companies to its employees to support businesses struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting online school openings.
According to KT on the 28th, the Love Agricultural Produce Package is a set of 10 types of eco-friendly vegetables purchased from meal supply companies. The cost price of the produce is 20,000 won, but it is sold to employees for 10,000 won, with the company covering the difference. Meal supply companies had to prepare for school openings starting in March but have faced difficulties as they could not deliver due to online school openings. According to the ‘Seoul Eco-friendly Distribution Center,’ which oversees school meals in Seoul, the damage to meal supply companies in Seoul during March and April amounts to approximately 8.4 billion won.
KT will hold an offline market over two days, on the 28th and 29th, at the KT Gwanghwamun building parking lot, selling 1,000 agricultural produce packages. KT selected two producer groups most severely affected, recommended by the Seoul Eco-friendly Distribution Center, to participate in this offline market. Subsequently, KT plans to sell an additional 5,000 agricultural produce packages over 10 days from May 6 to 15 through the KT Group’s internal welfare mall. Seven meal supply companies from across the country, including Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Chungnam, will participate in the online market.
