'TOEIC Question Illegal Leak Suspicion'...Famous Language Institute Official Sent to Prosecution
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Officials from Pagoda Language Institute who leaked TOEIC exam questions using voice recorders and hidden cameras have been handed over to the prosecution.
The International Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 27th that they have sent more than 10 current and former instructors and executives of Pagoda Language Institute to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment on charges including copyright infringement.
They are accused of illegally recording exam questions using voice recorders and hidden cameras multiple times at TOEIC test sites from 2013 to 2019 and then using them during institute lectures.
The police also applied joint liability regulations and sent the Pagoda Language Institute corporation to the prosecution on charges of copyright infringement.

Last year, the Educational Testing Service (ETS), which administers the TOEIC exam, confirmed these allegations of illegal activities and reportedly filed a complaint against Pagoda Language Institute.
