Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Jung Young-jin) announced that on the 27th, from 9 a.m., about 28 people including police officers and conscripted policemen participated in a group blood donation using the Korean Red Cross blood donation bus in front of the police station and the exclusive pier for patrol vessels.
The Coast Guard heard that due to the postponement of school openings caused by COVID-19, group blood donations were canceled and individual donations decreased, causing difficulties in blood supply, so all employees voluntarily participated in the group blood donation.
Kang Sung-yong, head of the Public Relations Office who participated in this blood donation event, said, “I participated because of the shortage of blood due to the spread of COVID-19 infection,” and added, “I hope this will help patients who need transfusions even a little.”
A Mokpo Coast Guard official said, “We participated in the blood donation event to overcome the national crisis situation,” and added, “We will continue to participate in regular blood donation activities to realize proper social values and take the lead in sharing life.”
