Minkyungwook Requests Preservation of Ballot Box Evidence... "Need to Resolve Early Voting Suspicion"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Min Kyung-wook, a member of the United Future Party who lost in Yeonsu-eul, Incheon, announced on the 27th that he will submit an application to preserve the ballot boxes for the 21st general election to the Incheon District Court.
Min said, "This is part of efforts to resolve doubts about the results of the 21st National Assembly election counting, which have arisen nationwide including in my constituency, Yeonsu-gu-eul, Incheon," adding, "As the public's demand for verification continues, it is essential to reach a clear conclusion through rigorous verification for democracy to become a healthier system."
An application for evidence preservation is a legal procedure to preserve evidence such as ballot boxes, ballots, and voting records at a district court or branch before filing a lawsuit for election invalidation or disqualification.
Earlier, on the 22nd, Min held a press conference at the National Assembly, raising suspicions of vote counting manipulation by pointing out that the ratio of out-of-district early voting votes to in-district early voting votes matched in some constituencies including his own.
To clarify the suspicions raised by some, Min plans to apply for preservation of documents related to the ballot boxes, CCTV footage of the ballot box storage process from the day of early voting to the present, CCTV footage of the counting process, central and Yeonsu district servers storing election result data, and network equipment.
