Hancom Reports Operating Profit of 14.4 Billion KRW... Highest Q1 Performance Ever
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Hancom announced on the 27th that it achieved consolidated sales of 88.3 billion KRW and operating profit of 14.4 billion KRW in the first quarter of this year, recording the highest first-quarter performance ever. This represents growth of 29.2% and 150.2%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
Hancom stated, "Along with sales in the corporate and public sectors, B2C (business-to-consumer) sales increased due to remote work and online school openings," adding, "Both sales and operating profit recorded double-digit growth in the first quarter."
The growth of subsidiaries such as Hancom MDS and Hancom Lifecare also contributed to this performance.
Hancom MDS recorded sales of 31.4 billion KRW and operating profit of 3.5 billion KRW, growing 18% and 94% year-on-year, respectively. Hancom Lifecare showed steep growth with sales of 20.2 billion KRW and operating profit of 6.3 billion KRW in the first quarter, driven by the expansion of domestic and international supply of KF94 yellow dust protection masks, marking increases of 161% and 1498% compared to the same period last year.

Hancom explained, "The untact (contactless) market is rapidly expanding recently due to remote work and online classes, and growth is expected in Hancom's cloud-based web office and artificial intelligence (AI) call center businesses," adding, "This growth trend is expected to continue into the second quarter."
