[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The police investigating the case involving allegations of 'Blue House ordered investigation and election interference' have received and are analyzing the mobile phone of Mr. A, a former prosecutor investigator affiliated with the Blue House Civil Affairs Secretary's Office, who was a key witness and was found dead.
On the 27th, Lee Yong-pyo, Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, stated at a press briefing, "On the 24th, we received back Investigator A's mobile phone from the prosecution," adding, "The prosecution provided us with content stored on the phone related to the case."
The commissioner further said, "We are currently analyzing the provided content," and added, "We plan to clarify the motive for the death." The police have indicated that if there is insufficient information regarding the motive, they will proceed with additional procedures.
The prosecution unlocked the password of Investigator A's mobile phone after about four months and handed over the unlocked phone to the police. However, during this process, the prosecution seized the mobile phone initially held by the police through a search warrant, which inevitably delayed the police investigation into the death case. Regarding this, Commissioner Lee said, "We also agreed to the prosecution seizing the mobile phone," and added, "However, we hoped that the prosecution would share the data necessary for the police investigation."
