Top 10 Outstanding Research Achievements Including Candidate Substances for Dementia Treatment
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Junho] Research on the development of candidate substances that reduce the aggregation of tau protein associated with neurodegeneration in dementia patients, the development of new drug candidates for alcoholic fatty liver disease, and the successful observation of the black hole shadow at the center of the giant elliptical galaxy M87 were selected as the top 10 outstanding research achievements last year.
The National Research Council of Science & Technology announced on the 27th that out of a total of 44 outstanding research achievements recommended by 22 government-funded research institutes, 10 were selected by technology field: 2 in public, space, and environment; 2 in machinery, materials, and chemistry; 4 in life, medical, and food sciences; and 2 in electrical, electronic, and energy fields.
Organizations and researchers selected for outstanding achievements will be awarded the Minister of Science and ICT Award. In the future, these achievements will be promoted as representative outcomes of government-funded research institutes through the publication of casebooks and other means.
