KMA to Host 2020 Weather Big Data Competition
Application Deadline by June 29
Submission of Entries by June 29
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The Korea Meteorological Administration announced on the 27th that it will hold the "2020 Weather Big Data Contest," which uses meteorological and climate big data to solve problems faced by private companies.
This year marks the 6th edition of the contest, which has two categories: service development and data analysis. For service development, participants are required to plan and submit a business model that integrates tourism population and commercial district data provided by KT with weather data. For data analysis, participants should propose a prediction model for condensation occurrence inside factories based on condensation observation data provided by Hyundai Steel, considering weather conditions.
Applications can be submitted through the website until May 29, and entries must be submitted by June 29.
For participants, online briefings on the contest problems and data, as well as big data analysis consultations by experts in each field, will be provided. Fourteen teams will be selected through a second round of judging on July 23 to advance to the finals and receive awards.
