Korea-Estonia Foreign Ministers' Call... Strengthening Cooperation on COVID-19 Response
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the afternoon of the 24th, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha held a phone call at the request of Urmas Reinsalu, Estonia's Foreign Minister, and exchanged views on cooperation measures related to the response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) between the two countries.
Minister Reinsalu evaluated the active quarantine cooperation and defense industry cooperation for COVID-19 response, and Minister Kang expressed her pleasure that South Korea's technology and experience are helping Estonia and the international community.
Minister Kang assessed that Estonia, as a non-permanent member of the United Nations (UN) Security Council, is making a significant contribution to discussions on COVID-19 response. In response, Minister Reinsalu stated that Estonia is scheduled to assume the Security Council presidency in May and will strive more actively to strengthen international quarantine cooperation, hoping to cooperate actively.
The two ministers especially agreed that, as digital powerhouses, their countries have great potential to contribute to the international community's COVID-19 response and support for related developing countries by utilizing digital technology, and they agreed to strengthen cooperation with like-minded countries.

An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained, "This call is evaluated as an opportunity to express solidarity with each other in responding to COVID-19 and to confirm the will to strengthen cooperation between the two countries."
