Decrease in 119 Ambulance Transport Patients in Jeonnam Region in Q1 This Year
3% Decrease Compared to the Same Period Last Year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The number of patients transported by the 119 ambulance service in Jeonnam region in the first quarter of this year decreased compared to the same period last year.
According to the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) on the 24th, the number of patients transported by the 119 ambulance service in the first quarter of this year was 17,869, a 3% decrease compared to the same period last year.
Jeonnam Fire Headquarters analyzed that the main reason was the reduction in outdoor activities of residents and avoidance of hospital visits due to the spread of COVID-19.
By type of occurrence, diseases accounted for the largest number with 10,993 cases (61.5%), followed by accident injuries with 3,741 cases (20.9%), traffic accidents with 2,295 cases (12.9%), and others with 840 cases (4.7%).
In particular, the number of patients suspected of COVID-19 and those with fever or respiratory symptoms transported was counted at 3,050.
Regarding COVID-19 response, Jeonnam Fire Headquarters has mandated the wearing of protective suits when ambulance personnel are active on site and transport symptomatic patients or those equivalent to them (fever, respiratory symptoms, overseas travel history, etc.) according to transport guidelines. They have also been thorough in infection prevention, including disinfecting ambulance vehicles and equipment.
