Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education to Make Various Regulations 'Human Rights-Friendly'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] The Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 24th that it plans to comprehensively revise the regulations of all departments and personnel next month from a human rights-friendly perspective.
The purpose is to establish infrastructure to implement educational human rights management policies and to foster a human rights-friendly educational culture through the revision of work regulations. It also aims to pursue people-centered administration that respects and protects human rights, in contrast to work-centered administration focused on efficiency and economy.
This regulation revision will, in principle, be conducted through self-inspection by all departments and personnel of the Provincial Office of Education, but support will be provided through consulting with human rights management officers and legal experts if necessary.
The targets for revision include work promotion plans, regulations, manuals, various forms, and terminology. The process involves identifying and improving elements that may infringe on human rights and conducting a thorough review from the perspective of recently amended laws, making this a proactive and autonomous inspection.

Park Se-gwon, Director of Democratic Citizenship Education at the Gyeongnam Office of Education, said, "By examining the regulations and implementation processes of the education office's work from the perspective of respecting and protecting human rights, it will serve as a turning point for improving the human rights sensitivity of work personnel as well as work innovation." He added, "We will strive to create a human rights-friendly school culture by practicing human rights management that recognizes differences among community members and protects, respects, and remedies everyone's human rights starting from educational administration."
