Seoul Reports 0 New COVID-19 Cases... "Not the Time to Lower Guard" (Update)
Mayor Park Won-soon "Stable Maintenance Due to Social Distancing Effect"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in the Seoul area remained the same as the previous day at 628.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that no new COVID-19 cases were reported from midnight on the 22nd to 10 a.m. on the 23rd.
Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon said in a briefing that morning, "The number of new confirmed cases nationwide is staying in the single digits, and the number of people released from quarantine after recovery has exceeded 8,400," adding, "In Seoul, the number of new confirmed cases has been below three for 10 consecutive days."
Mayor Park stated, "This stable situation is the result of the 'social distancing' measures that have been in place for six weeks," and urged, "However, since it is not yet time to lower our guard, please continue the 'social distancing' until May 5, as set by the government."
Currently, among the total 628 confirmed cases in Seoul, about 45%, or 284 people, have been declared recovered and discharged, while a larger number, 342, are undergoing isolation treatment. There have been two deaths.

Looking at confirmed cases by district of residence in Seoul, Gangnam-gu, which has many overseas contacts, has the highest number at 62, followed by Gwanak-gu with 42, and Seocho-gu and Songpa-gu with 37 each. When classified by major infection sources, overseas contact accounts for the largest number at 249 cases (39.6%).
