According to Pohang City on the 23rd, the residents' representative meeting of Woobang Sincheonji Town in Duho-dong, Buk-gu, which had been promoting the 'apartment name change' since the end of February, was canceled.
This apartment complex, consisting of 1,510 households, held a vote among residents on changing the apartment name as negative images of Sincheonji spread due to the COVID-19 outbreak. According to the Act on Ownership and Management of Collective Buildings, 80% approval is required, but the vote results showed 1,200 households in favor, 304 opposed, and 6 abstained, failing to meet the requirement of approval from at least 1,208 households.
Accordingly, Woobang Sincheonji Town in Pohang will retain its name.
