Im Seung-kwan, co-head of Gyeonggi Province's COVID-19 Emergency Response Team, stated at a regular briefing on the 22nd, "Although the number of new confirmed cases has recently been declining, there is still a risk of re-spread. As the government has extended the somewhat relaxed physical distancing measures until the 5th of next month, we have reissued the administrative order restricting the use of multi-use facilities."
The administrative order targets a total of 51,960 locations in the province, including 7,504 entertainment facilities, 1,254 coffee shops, 897 bathhouses, 7,620 karaoke rooms, 4,768 PC rooms, 33,091 academies and private institutes, and 6,826 certain indoor sports facilities (dance studios and fitness centers).
The province explained that, according to government guidelines, it recommends refraining from operating multi-use facilities during the administrative order period, and if operation is unavoidable, the facilities must comply with quarantine guidelines specific to their type.
Among these, the quarantine guidelines for indoor sports facilities have been partially revised from initially "prohibiting the provision of shared items such as sportswear, towels, and exercise equipment" to "recommending the use of personal items and thorough disinfection when providing shared items."
Meanwhile, as of midnight on the 22nd, the number of confirmed cases in Gyeonggi Province stood at 658, with no additional confirmed cases compared to midnight the previous day. Among the confirmed cases in the province, 410 have been discharged, and 234 are undergoing isolation treatment in hospitals and residential treatment centers.
