Gyeonggi-do Opens First Temporary Living Facility for Arrivals in Icheon... Extension of Administrative Orders for PC Rooms and More
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province opened its first temporary living facility for Gyeonggi residents arriving from overseas on the 22nd at the SK Telecom Talent Development Center in Majang-myeon, Icheon.
Im Seung-kwan, co-head of the Gyeonggi Province COVID-19 Emergency Response Team (Director of Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center Anseong Hospital), stated at the regular briefing on the day, "This is a measure to suppress the spread of infectious diseases in the local community through thorough management of overseas entrants."
This newly opened temporary living facility is the first at the provincial level. It will accommodate residents who tested negative in specimen collection but exceed the capacity of city/county temporary living facilities, those recommended for admission by the mayor or county governor, and those recognized by the province as needing admission considering their housing type and family circumstances.
The temporary living facility is exclusively operated by Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center Icheon Hospital. It has a capacity of 90 rooms, based on one person per room. The support staff consists of 18 people in 3 teams, including provincial officials and police officers. Eight staff members are stationed on-site.
On the same day, Director Im extended the administrative order restricting the use of multi-use facilities such as singing rooms, PC cafes, and entertainment establishments in the province until the 5th of next month.
The province explained that although the number of new confirmed cases has recently been declining, the risk of resurgence remains, and since the government extended the somewhat relaxed physical distancing measures until the 5th of next month, the administrative order restricting the use of multi-use facilities is being reissued.
During the administrative order period, operation of multi-use facilities is advised to be refrained from, and if operation is unavoidable, entry points must check visitors for fever and respiratory symptoms, maintain a user log, and require all to wear masks.
Additionally, strict compliance with quarantine guidelines by facility type is required, including maintaining distance between workers and users, regular ventilation, and disinfection. For indoor sports facilities, the quarantine guidelines were partially revised from the original ban on providing shared items such as sportswear, towels, and equipment to recommending the use of personal items and thorough disinfection if shared items are provided.
Director Im said, "Gyeonggi Province plans to continuously strengthen management of group infections by checking compliance with quarantine guidelines under the administrative order through on-site inspections," and urged, "Although operators, workers, and users may experience inconvenience and difficulties, we ask for active cooperation."
In addition, the province decided to temporarily suspend the operation of screening centers installed at two locations: Suwon World Cup Stadium and the sports field of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Northern Office. Accordingly, the Suwon World Cup Stadium will be unavailable from the 23rd, and the Northern Office sports field from the 29th. However, the province will maintain the center functions to allow reactivation if necessary, such as in the event of a possible future group infection.
Meanwhile, as of midnight on the 22nd, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province was 658, with no additional confirmed cases compared to midnight the previous day.
