Accommodation Facility Left as an Eyesore for 10 Years Renovated into Happy Housing
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Sharon] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 22nd that it has established a plan for the 'Long-term Abandoned Construction Site Leading Project' for an accommodation facility in Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam, and will soon begin design work to launch a full-scale maintenance project.
Since 2015, the Ministry has selected 17 leading project sites for the maintenance of long-term abandoned buildings, including the Geochang accommodation facility, through five rounds of local government competitions until last year.
This accommodation facility was originally planned as a 15-story motel, but construction was halted for 10 years, turning it into an eyesore that damaged the urban landscape.
