Shin Ok-dong, Shinhan Bank CEO, Launches Initiative to Support Small Businesses by Introducing Local Eateries
[Asia Economy Reporter Haeyoung Kwon] Shinhan Bank announced on the 22nd that it will implement the 'Our Neighborhood Support Program,' the first in the financial sector to offer small business owners experiencing economic difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic free advertising through digital posters and electronic billboards (digital channels) installed inside its branches.
The Our Neighborhood Support Program is Shinhan Bank's digital social contribution service that provides store promotions and discount coupons through digital channels inside branches. Eligible advertisers are small business owners located near branches equipped with digital channels. Starting today until July 31, the program will be piloted at 32 branches nationwide, with plans to expand to more branches in the second half of the year and make it available through the mobile app SOL.
Jin Ok-dong, CEO of Shinhan Bank, invited small business customers near the head office to introduce the Our Neighborhood Support Program and toured the digital posters installed in the head office branch together. Support items for overcoming the COVID-19 recession were also delivered.
Meanwhile, Shinhan Bank plans to pilot the 'Neighborhood Sharing Meal Service' to increase sales for small business owners and support vulnerable groups. The Neighborhood Sharing Meal Service provides meal coupons for three months to vulnerable individuals in need of meal support in the Jung-gu area of Seoul, which can be used at local small business restaurants, creating shared value within the community. If the pilot is successful, the program will be expanded to more areas beyond Jung-gu.
