Government Announces National Civil Service Exam Schedule... Grade 5 Public Service & Diplomat Exams to be Held on Next Month 16 (Update)

[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] The schedule for the national civil service open competitive examinations, which had been postponed one after another due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) crisis, has been adjusted and reconfirmed.
According to the Ministry of Personnel Management on the 22nd, the first exam for the Grade 5 open competitive exam, diplomatic service candidate exam, and regional talent Grade 7 exam has been set for the 16th of next month, and the second exam has been rescheduled from June to August. The Grade 9 open competitive exam will be held on July 11, considering the local government Grade 9 open competitive exam schedule (June 13), and the Grade 7 open competitive exam written test will be held on September 26.
The Ministry of Personnel Management stated, "The resumption of the civil service recruitment exams was decided after close consultation with experts and quarantine authorities."
The first exam, including the Grade 5 open competitive exam, which will be held first on the 16th of next month, will proceed with enhanced quarantine measures proposed by the quarantine authorities in place. A total of 12,504 candidates will take the exam at 32 test centers nationwide.
The Ministry explained that measures such as ▲confirmation of examinees' self-quarantine status and management of entry and exit history ▲unification of test center entrances and strengthening of entry procedures ▲actions for suspected cases ▲significant reduction of the number of examinees per test room ▲mandatory mask-wearing for all examinees ▲and pre- and post-exam disinfection will be applied.
Additionally, the examinees' code of conduct to prevent the spread of COVID-19 will be announced in advance when the test locations are posted one week before the exam, and the code of conduct will be posted in each test room on the exam day. Ministry officials and staff will be dispatched as quarantine officers to all test centers nationwide to directly implement and manage quarantine measures related to the exam on site.
