Hwasun-gun Selected for 'New Hope Finding Project' Contest
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Hwasun-gun, Jeonnam (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 22nd that it has been selected for the ‘Jeonnam Population, New Hope Finding Project’ contest and secured a total project cost of 300 million KRW.

This project supports the influx and settlement of the younger generation to respond to population issues such as low birthrate and aging and to create a sustainable population structure.
Fifteen cities and counties participated in the contest, and a total of 10 projects were selected.
The selected project is ‘Youth Incubating Using Advanced Agriculture,’ which is a project to train young people in smart farms utilizing advanced technology, expected to contribute to the influx of external youth and the fostering and settlement of young farmers.
The county plans to establish a ‘Smart Farm Practice Center’ in Hancheon-ri, Dongbok-myeon to promote the ‘Youth Incubating Using Advanced Agriculture’ project.
In addition, an experience program will be operated by linking and utilizing the Dongbok-myeon Sambok area community center and hand-tofu experience center adjacent to the practice center to increase the utilization of idle facilities and create jobs for youth.
Educational programs will also be operated for young people planning to start a business in the agricultural field and young people hoping to return to farming and rural areas.
Last year, the county’s project ‘Youth Creator Media Workshop Installation and Operation Project’ was selected in the same contest (project cost 240 million KRW), and creator training education is underway.

A county official said, “This project will be a groundbreaking attempt to settle young farmers in rural areas where the elderly population is increasing,” and added, “We will continue to actively discover various projects to attract young generations and create a vibrant Hwasun.”
