Professor Jeong Won-seop of Gyeongnam National University Appointed as Member of the Ministry of Education's Character Education Promotion Committee
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Gyeongnam National University announced on the 23rd that Professor Jeong Won-seop (photo) of the Department of Liberal Studies has been appointed as a member of the Ministry of Education's 3rd Personality Education Promotion Committee.
The Ministry of Education's Personality Education Promotion Committee is a committee under the Minister of Education established to deliberate on major policy matters such as the direction and support cooperation of personality education, in accordance with the "Personality Education Promotion Act," which was enacted to foster citizens with sound and proper character.
For this 3rd Personality Education Promotion Committee, nine experts with extensive knowledge and experience in personality education, including Professor Jeong Won-seop of Gyeongnam National University, were appointed as members. The committee will deliberate on matters prescribed by presidential decree for the promotion of personality education over approximately two years until 2022, including the establishment of a comprehensive plan for personality education, inspection and evaluation of personality education implementation, and support cooperation and coordination for personality education.

Professor Jeong has served as president of the Korean Society of Ethics and has engaged in interdisciplinary research and academic activities related to ethics and morality. He has also devoted himself to various educational activities, such as authoring high school philosophy and ethics textbooks. This year, he was appointed president of the Korean Posthuman Society, focusing on responding to various social issues in the posthuman society and paying special attention to establishing desirable personality education in our society.
