[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) Smart Yangcheon Future Education Center (367 Mokdongseo-ro, 2nd floor of Lifelong Learning Center) has resumed classes that were temporarily suspended due to the spread of COVID-19 and is accepting applications on a first-come, first-served basis from the 23rd for students to participate in the 2nd quarter classes of 2020.
Opened in November last year, the Smart Yangcheon Future Education Center is equipped with classrooms, video production rooms, and VR experience spaces to provide future education suitable for the rapidly changing 4th Industrial Revolution era. It operates future education programs according to dedicated curricula for each subject.
The 2nd quarter classes of 2020 will be held for three months from May 6 to July 14.
▲ AR/VR (Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality) education linked to social and science learning courses ▲ 3D printing to develop three-dimensional thinking skills ▲ video production classes covering planning, shooting, and editing ▲ coding classes using robots ▲ App Inventor classes to learn how to create Android device-based applications will be offered.
The number of students per class is 15 to 20, and students residing in Yangcheon-gu from 5th grade elementary school to 3rd grade middle school can participate. However, since the target participants and class schedules differ by subject, students must check the course schedule on the Future Education Center website before applying.
The tuition fee for all courses is 10,000 KRW, and it is free for basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income families, and single-parent families.
The district will recruit students to participate in classes on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 9 a.m. on the 23rd. Students who wish to participate can apply through the Future Education Center website (www.ycfec.or.kr).
