Special Book Reading with Novelist Kim Bom
Yeongdeungpo-gu Youth-Only Space 'Mujungnyeokjidae Yeongdeungpo' Conducts Online Non-Face-to-Face Program... Special Book Reading with Novelist Kim Bom Every Monday from April 27 to May 18, 5:30-7:30 PM
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) is conducting non-face-to-face programs online at the local representative youth-only space, ‘Mujungryeokjidae Yeongdeungpo,’ providing various content tailored for youth in the COVID-19 era.
With the extension of the ‘social distancing’ campaign until the end of the COVID-19 crisis, the number of young people looking for activities to enjoy at home is increasing. Accordingly, the district will run the online youth meeting support program ‘Meeting Anywhere, Together’ through ‘Mujungryeokjidae Yeongdeungpo’ starting from the 27th.
The theme of this session of ‘Meeting Anywhere, Together’ is ‘Reading Anywhere, Together_1st Quarter,’ a book club where young people read together and share their opinions. Along with novelist Kim Bom, participants will read related humanities and liberal arts books and novels under the theme ‘Exploring the Age of Infection through Humanities,’ sharing thoughts on ‘infection,’ which has become part of daily life with COVID-19.
Youth who have found solo reading challenging or who desire a richer reading experience will be able to enjoy unprecedented satisfaction through this program.
The program runs from April 27 to May 18, once a week for a total of four sessions, each held every Monday from 7:30 PM for two hours. The target participants are youth aged 19 to 34, and the participation fee is 20,000 KRW. Recruitment is currently ongoing in real time.
Applications can be made through the website ‘MiniIntern’ (https://miniintern.com/). For more detailed information about the application, visit the ‘Mujungryeokjidae Yeongdeungpo’ homepage (http://www.youthzone.kr/youth_zones?category=yeongdeungpo) or add ‘Mujungryeokjidae Yeongdeungpo’ as a friend on Kakao Plus Friend.
In May, a youth media creator development program will be held for young people aspiring to become video creators. It will be packed with valuable content covering video content planning, shooting techniques, and editing methods.
Located next to Dangsan Station on Subway Line 2, ‘Mujungryeokjidae Yeongdeungpo’ opened in October last year to serve as a resting place where youth can freely communicate, and it has become a representative youth space of the district with a cumulative user count reaching 20,000.
The first floor consists of a performance and relaxation space, a caf?, and mentoring rooms, while the second floor houses a media room, shared kitchen, and lecture rooms.
Last year, a total of 16 hobby support programs such as △scenario writing and △acrylic painting were conducted here, and the ‘Social Dining’ program, where participants cooked and ate dinner together while networking, was held five times. A ‘Youth Forum’ was also operated, sharing opinions on issues such as media, housing, and space with more than 50 young people.
However, since February this year, ‘Mujungryeokjidae Yeongdeungpo’ has been closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and consequently, all offline programs at this location have been temporarily postponed.
The district expects that operating this online program will raise awareness of ‘Mujungryeokjidae Yeongdeungpo’ among more youth and broadly satisfy their content consumption desires by providing content free from location constraints.
