Ministry of Industry Opens Energy, Technology, and Trade Data... 8th Idea Contest
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 22nd that it will hold the "8th Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Public Data Utilization Business Idea Contest" from the 22nd to July 18.
The contest was held to create new business opportunities and jobs by revitalizing the use of public data.
Since 2013, the Ministry and its affiliated public institutions have been opening public data in various fields such as energy, industry & technology, and trade & commerce.
This contest aims to contribute to the activation of the data economy by discovering and nurturing business models, including big data analysis, using the Ministry's public data.
Through previous contests utilizing public data, excellent cases of new business creation such as "ProChuljangler," "Jeonbotdae App," "Africa Startup App," "Human Body Measurement Utilization App," and "G-eye App" have been discovered.
Any citizen of the Republic of Korea can apply individually or as a team of up to three members.
The contest fields are divided into two categories: idea planning and product & service development. Webtoon production, which was part of the 7th contest, has been excluded.
Winners will be decided through the first document screening (July 20?31) and the second presentation screening (August 12).
Prize money totaling 96 million KRW and awards from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, as well as from the organizing and sponsoring institutions, will be given to the winners.
Additional benefits include participation in startup support programs, business idea coaching and provision of business space, research and development (R&D) consulting and cost support, and advancement to the finals of the 8th Pan-Government Public Data Startup Competition.
Those who wish to participate (teams) must submit the application form and idea plan to the contest website by July 18.
