Grand Korea Leisure Extends Casino Closures Until May 6
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Grand Korea Leisure (GKL, President Yoo Tae-yeol), which operates the foreigner-only casino 'Seven Luck,' announced on the 19th that it will extend the closure period of its casino business locations until 6 a.m. on May 6, following the government's 16-day extension of 'social distancing.'
GKL decided to close its casino business locations starting from 6 a.m. on the 24th of last month and has maintained the closure since then. The government, after gathering opinions from experts and the public regarding the ongoing risk of transmission of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), decided to ease some of the enhanced social distancing guidelines that were to be implemented until this day, but extended the period until May 5.

Earlier, Kangwon Land, which operates casinos open to Korean nationals, decided to extend the closure of its casino business locations until 6 a.m. on May 4. Regarding resort facilities such as hotels, condos, and water parks, they plan to gradually prepare for reopening in consideration of all COVID-19 related circumstances, including social distancing and government policies.
