Gyeonggi-do Opens 'Report Center' for Illegal Private Loans and Real Estate Transactions on the 20th
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is opening a citizen reporting center that can receive reports of various unfair acts and conduct investigations.
On the 19th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will open the "Citizen Reporting Center," which handles reports and investigations of various unfair acts such as illegal private loans and illegal real estate transactions, on the 20th on the 2nd floor of Suwon Station (former Civil Service Center). The Citizen Reporting Center is being established under the direction of Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung.
The province decided to install the Citizen Reporting Center at Suwon Station, which has the highest average daily foot traffic of 250,000 people, prioritizing accessibility for citizens.
Six members of the on-site investigation team belonging to the newly established Provincial Special Judicial Police, created during last month's organizational restructuring, will be assigned to the center.
The center will be responsible for purifying the youth harmful environment around Suwon Station and investigating sex crimes. It will also closely cooperate with the local police station, education office, civic groups, and others to handle tasks such as cracking down on illegal private loans, real estate price collusion, social welfare subsidies, and intelligent crimes targeting youth.
Additionally, two counselors from the Provincial Low-Income Financial Welfare Support Center will be assigned to assist with services such as "illegal debt collection support" and "debt adjustment counseling services," helping small business owners and low-income citizens achieve economic independence and recovery.
Investigations will also cover illegal high-interest rates and proxy collection of loan claims by lending businesses.
Kim Young-soo, head of the Provincial Special Judicial Police, emphasized, "We will strongly investigate various unfair crimes to protect socially and economically vulnerable groups such as small business owners, housewives, and students from exposure to crime," adding, "We will strive to make the Citizen Reporting Center a field-oriented venue that protects citizens and realizes the value of fairness in their daily lives."
