Seven Eleven Collaborates with Local Farms, Offers 40% Discount on 'Yeongcheon Peeled Garlic'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Convenience store 7-Eleven is stepping up to help local farms struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
7-Eleven announced on the 19th that, in collaboration with Yeongcheon City, Gyeongbuk Province, it will sell garlic produced by about 100 local garlic farms through the 7-Eleven mobile app (7-App) starting from the 20th of this month.
The product, ‘Yeongcheon Peeled Garlic Large 1kg,’ is offered at a special price of 5,000 won to promote agricultural product consumption. This price is approximately 30-40% cheaper than the market price.
Customers wishing to purchase can access the 7-Eleven mobile application, go to the ‘Pre-order’ menu under the ‘Special Exhibition’ section, reserve the product, and select the desired store and date for pickup. Once the order is completed and the product arrives at the store, a product exchange voucher message is sent to the customer, who can then visit the store, make the payment, and receive the product.
The Yeongcheon garlic special exhibition is part of the ‘COVID-19 Community Support Project,’ following support for local residents and franchise owners that began at the end of February. Earlier, starting with discounted sales of essential goods in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk areas at the end of February, 7-Eleven collected part of the sales from Seven Cafe to assemble donation items and donated them to the Daegu branch of the Korean Red Cross. Additionally, employees, retired employee groups, and the franchise owners’ council raised funds to support franchise stores with a total of approximately 107,300 masks over three rounds.
