'My Little Chef' Reborn as a VR Game Enjoyed with 5G
LGU+, Grampus, and Stoic Entertainment Collaborate on 5G Cloud VR Game Service
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] LG Uplus is developing a VR game utilizing the intellectual property (IP) of the mobile game 'My Little Chef.'
On the 19th, LG Uplus announced that it will collaborate with game developer Grampus and VR content company Stoic Entertainment to create a 5G cloud VR game service and AR content based on My Little Chef. My Little Chef is a mobile cooking adventure game developed by Grampus, which has recorded a global cumulative 19 million downloads since its release in 2016.
The three companies will develop a 5G streaming-based cloud VR game called 'My Little Chef: My Little Recipe VR' (hereafter My Little Chef VR) using the IP of My Little Chef. It will implement '6DoF,' which detects the user's movements in six directions using only a wireless HMD, without the need for high-performance devices. The game will feature 15 dishes from three types of restaurants: steakhouse, Korean food, and dessert house.
Players will receive basic cooking training from the main character, Chef Noma, then develop secret recipes and can take screenshots of cooking scenes to share on social networking services. Utilizing the 5G network, players can also engage in real-time cooperative cooking or compete in cooking contests with others. My Little Chef VR was selected as a finalist in the 2020 5G Content Flagship Project hosted by the Korea Radio Promotion Association (RAPA) on the 10th.
LG Uplus plans to launch My Little Chef VR within this year on the U+VR app, and the jointly created AR content will be serviced through the U+AR app.
Choi Yunhwa, CEO of Stoic Entertainment, said, “We expect synergy effects through collaboration with Grampus and LG Uplus, which is actively investing in VR and AR content aiming to attract 4.5 million 5G subscribers this year, using cooking?a wonderful content that connects people's hearts.”
