Iran Surpasses 5,000 COVID-19 Deaths... New Cases on the Decline
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] The Iranian Ministry of Health reported on the 18th (local time) at noon that the number of deaths from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) increased by 73 from the previous day, totaling 5,031. The daily increase in deaths on this day was the lowest since the 11th of last month, marking seven consecutive days of decline.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Iran rose by 1,374 from the previous day, reaching 80,868. The daily increase in confirmed cases was the lowest since the 22nd of last month, showing a decrease for eight consecutive days.
The daily increase rate of confirmed cases on this day (1.7%) was the lowest since the first COVID-19 case was reported in Iran on February 19. The number of recovered patients increased by 1,923 from the previous day, totaling 55,987 (recovery rate 69.2%).
