iPhone SE 2nd Generation, Early May Release in Korea
High Possibility of Release Around May 5
Apple Store to Reopen from the 18th
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Apple will launch the 'iPhone SE 2nd generation' in South Korea early next month.
According to the telecommunications industry on the 17th, Apple's iPhone SE 2nd generation will be officially released in South Korea in early May. Unlike in the past when it took more than two months from the first release of a new product to its domestic launch, it is expected that the iPhone SE will be available for purchase in Korea faster than anticipated.
Apple will also reopen the Garosugil Apple Store, which was closed for about a month due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), starting on the 18th, and begin preparations for the launch of the iPhone SE 2nd generation. Apple stated, "South Korea has made significant progress during the COVID-19 outbreak period, and we judged it safe enough to reopen," adding, "We will focus more on providing service support such as the Genius Bar rather than sales."
The iPhone SE 2nd generation is Apple's mid-range phone starting at 550,000 KRW, featuring the same old design as the iPhone 8 with a 4.7-inch screen and Touch ID support. Wide bezels, a home button, and a single camera are elements far from the latest smartphone trends, but its affordable price is a strong point. It is notable for being released at a price lower than its predecessors, the iPhone 8 (around 940,000 KRW) and the iPhone 11 (990,000 KRW). It is expected to be popular among consumers with limited budgets looking for mid-range smartphones.
