[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun said on the 17th regarding the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), "Do not become complacent just because the number of new confirmed cases has decreased immediately; thoroughly engage in quarantine measures."
On the same day, Prime Minister Chung presided over the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters (CDSCH) meeting on COVID-19 response held at the Government Seoul Office and stated, "Although the spread of COVID-19 infections has clearly decreased since April, looking at the details, it feels like the calm before the storm."
Prime Minister Chung said, "The number of new confirmed cases has remained in the 20s for four consecutive days until yesterday, and excluding imported cases, it is close to single digits," adding, "Although the numbers are small, confirmed cases with unknown infection routes continue to occur, and we cannot dismiss the suspicion of asymptomatic infections caused by community transmission or overseas entrants."
