Before the spread of COVID-19, six events had been completed. The total schedule was drastically reduced to 28 events, causing players to suffer significant financial damage. The bigger issue is that the criteria for promotion to the PGA Tour next season have not yet been adjusted. Usually, the 'top 25' advance to the PGA Tour the following year, and those ranked 26th to 75th get another chance through the Finals Series. The PGA Tour said it is "studying new benchmarks" in response to the nearly halved number of tournaments.
