View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Kang Hoon (18), known as 'Butta,' who was ordered to have his identity disclosed for assisting Jo Joo-bin (24), the operator of the Telegram 'Doctor's Room,' has filed an administrative lawsuit requesting the cancellation of the identity disclosure order.
On the 16th, Kang Hoon's side filed an administrative lawsuit at the Seoul Administrative Court against the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency to cancel the identity disclosure administrative disposition. They also applied for a provisional injunction to suspend the identity disclosure until the court's decision is made.
Kang Hoon's lawyer explained, "There is doubt as to whether there is a need to disclose the identity information of a minor suspect, and it may deprive him of the opportunity to receive a fair trial." He added, "With Jo Joo-bin's arrest, the details of this case have been revealed, satisfying the public's right to know to some extent," and "There are aspects different from what Jo's side claimed in the media."
However, the lawyer clarified that this lawsuit does not imply denial of the charges.
Kang Hoon, who used the nickname 'Butta,' was arrested on the 9th on charges of recruiting and managing participants of the Doctor's Room and delivering criminal proceeds to Jo. It is reported that he played a kind of 'fund manager' role by cashing out cryptocurrency deposits made by paid members as entrance fees and delivering the cash to Jo.
Earlier, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency held an identity information disclosure review committee on the morning of the same day and decided to disclose the identity, including the face and name, of Kang Hoon, who is charged with violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse (production and distribution of obscene materials, etc.). His face is scheduled to be first disclosed at around 8 a.m. on the 17th at the Jongno Police Station in Seoul when Kang is transferred to the prosecution.
