[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The United Future Party has announced an apology to those who were hurt by some inappropriate remarks on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of the Sewol ferry disaster.
Kim Seong-won, spokesperson for the United Future Party, stated in a commentary on the 16th, "We share the still unhealed pain and pray for the eternal rest of the victims."
He said, "Losing my child, my sibling, or my parents and relatives is a sorrow incomparable to anything, even if I were to lose my own life," adding, "Therefore, that pain must not be recklessly judged, nor should anyone use that pain as a tool for political strife or distort it."
He continued, "The United Future Party has never taken that pain lightly," and added, "If there are those who were hurt by some inappropriate remarks, we once again offer our sincere apologies."
