According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters for COVID-19, as of midnight on this day, 141 people tested positive again after recovery, with those in their 20s accounting for the largest group at 34 people (24.1%). This was followed by 26 people in their 50s, 21 in their 30s, 17 in their 40s, 16 in their 60s, 13 aged 80 and above, 6 in their teens, and 5 in their 70s. There were also 3 cases under the age of 10.
Deputy Director Kwon Jun-wook of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters stated, "We are conducting investigations considering possibilities such as weakened immunity in patients leading to incomplete antibody formation and subsequent reactivation of the virus, errors in testing itself, or the detection of harmless fragments of the virus."

Earlier last month, a case was reported in Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi Province, where a family of three, including a 16-month-old infant and their parents, all tested positive again after recovery. Regarding this family case, Deputy Director Kwon said, "The investigation confirmed that the virus was not isolated or cultured in this case," adding, "Some clinical experts believe that re-positive cases are not clinically concerning to a significant degree."
