Busan Maritime Police Agency announced on the 16th that they have urgently arrested the Russian national A on suspicion of attempted murder and are currently investigating.
According to the maritime police, A is suspected of threatening fellow crew members with a weapon and causing a disturbance by striking the captain's cabin door and others on the Russian-flagged refrigerated cargo ship B (4190 tons) docked at the pier in Cheonghak-dong, Yeongdo-gu, Busan, at around 11:28 p.m. the previous day.
During the investigation, it was revealed that A went out at around 5 p.m. the previous day, returned to the ship at around 8 p.m. in a heavily intoxicated state, and suddenly threatened the captain and crew members with a weapon.
Upon receiving the report, the maritime police dispatched patrol boats, the Central Maritime Special Rescue Team, and coastal rescue boats to the scene and urgently arrested A.
The maritime police reported that there were no casualties due to A's stabbing rampage that day.
