He went on to say, "I remember the demands and tasks that many Suncheon citizens longed for during the election period," and concluded, "I will repay with politics that brings hope and happiness to the citizens of Suncheon and, furthermore, to the people of the Republic of Korea, with politics true to So Byeong-cheol."

Meanwhile, So Byeong-cheol was elected by securing 58.5%, or 78,480 votes, defeating independent candidate Noh Gwan-gyu, who received 42,476 votes, by a margin of 36,004 votes, or 26.9% difference, according to the vote count results.
