LG Innotek Union's Workplace COVID-19 Prevention Measures: "Union's Social Responsibility"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The LG Innotek labor union has rolled up its sleeves to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The LG Innotek union announced on the 16th that it is conducting COVID-19 prevention activities at a total of four business sites: Gumi, Gwangju, Pyeongtaek, and Paju. These activities will take place from the 13th of this month until the 11th of next month.
LG Innotek stated that the prevention activities are being promoted as part of the union's USR (Union Social Responsibility). Since declaring the fulfillment of the union's social responsibility in 2012, LG Innotek has participated in resolving social issues. A total of about 900 union officials and field employees are participating in the prevention activities, forming teams of 20 to 80 people per business site to conduct the activities once a week. After completing disinfection and safety training, union members disinfect shared spaces within the workplace frequently used by employees.
Additionally, they conduct an ‘EESH (Energy, Environment, Safety, Health) Patrol’ to measure employees' body temperatures and inspect areas requiring strengthened prevention measures. The LG Innotek union has continuously carried out ‘EESH Patrols’ to improve workplace conditions and eliminate hazards. Alongside this, they plan to run COVID-19 response campaigns such as wearing masks and maintaining distance during meals.
