[21st General Election] 80.9% Participation Among Self-Quarantine Voters Who Applied
Chungnam Achieves Highest Voter Turnout at 90%

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Among the 59,918 citizens under self-quarantine to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), 11,515 participated in the 21st National Assembly election voting.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 16th, out of 13,789 self-quarantined individuals who had expressed their intention to vote by the 14th, 11,151, accounting for 80.9%, visited polling stations on the 15th.
The voting rate of self-quarantined individuals by region (actual voters compared to applicants) was highest in Chungnam at 90.3%, followed by Sejong 88.8%, Jeonbuk 87.3%, Busan 86.3%, Daegu 85.4%, Incheon 84.5%, Gyeongbuk 84.4%, Gyeongnam 84.3%, Gangwon 84.2%, Daejeon 83.0%, Jeonnam 82.9%, and Jeju 80.9%. Ulsan (75.7%), Gwangju (77.4%), Seoul (78.9%), Gyeonggi (79.0%), and Chungbuk (79.5%) had voting rates below the average.
Initially, as of the 14th, 23.0% of the total 59,918 self-quarantined individuals had applied to vote.
By region, the highest number of applicants was 4,518 in Seoul, followed by 4,286 in Gyeonggi-do, 837 in Busan, 735 in Incheon, 474 in Daegu, 462 in Gyeongnam, 352 in Chungnam, 326 in Gyeongbuk, 290 in Daejeon, 243 in Ulsan, 234 in Chungbuk, 225 in Gangwon, 186 in Jeonbuk, 168 in Gwangju, 117 in Jeonnam, 110 in Jeju, and 79 in Sejong, all of whom expressed their intention to vote.

The government received voting applications from eligible voters among confirmed cases, contacts, and overseas entrants who were notified of self-quarantine by local government health centers and allowed those without COVID-19 symptoms such as fever or cough to go out for voting from 5:20 PM to 7:00 PM on the 15th.
