Exit Poll Results for General Election Announced at 6:15 PM, 15 Minutes Delayed... "Considering Self-Quarantined Individuals"
[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] The exit poll results for the April 15 general election, which were scheduled to be announced immediately after voting ended at 6 PM on the 15th, will be delayed by 15 minutes. This measure was taken to accommodate voting by COVID-19 self-quarantined voters after the polls close.
On the 14th, the National Election Commission stated, "To avoid affecting the voting of self-quarantined voters who vote after the polls close, we have requested cooperation from the three terrestrial broadcasters (KBS, MBC, SBS) to announce the exit poll or forecast results after 6:15 PM on the 15th."
In response, the Broadcasting Association announced, "Following the National Election Commission's request, the three broadcasters will announce the exit poll results at 6:15 PM, 15 minutes after the polls close."
Previously, the National Election Commission had prepared measures to conduct voting for self-quarantined voters after the general voters' voting ended, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to protect the voting rights of quarantined voters.
Concerns were raised that if various exit poll and voting-related survey results from media outlets were announced immediately after the polls closed as before, it could influence the voting of self-quarantined voters.
