View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jinju Han] KT will conduct live broadcasting of the 21st National Assembly general election in collaboration with SBS using 5G networks.
This 5G live broadcast will be the first to utilize 5G MNG (Mobile News Gathering) equipment. Until now, broadcasters have used satellite-based SNG (Satellite News Gathering) equipment with relay vehicles or LTE-based backpack MNG equipment for live broadcasts, but this is the first time MNG equipment equipped with a 5G modem is being used.
To enhance the quality of this live broadcast, KT will apply the 'Premium Quality Control' technology for the first time through enterprise-exclusive 5G. Premium Quality Control technology prioritizes the processing of critical data to ensure the quality of important data services even in situations where data traffic is congested. It can be utilized in industries sensitive to monitoring and security such as broadcasting, factories, and hospitals, where loss of critical data during live broadcasts must be avoided.
On election day, SBS plans to visit the vote counting center on-site and use 5G live broadcasting to provide vivid on-site footage and interviews with officials. KT plans to demonstrate the stability of its enterprise-exclusive 5G service and Premium Quality Control technology.
The 5G MNG used for this general election live broadcast is equipment introduced domestically for the first time by LiveU LTD., which signed a '5G-based video transmission commercialization' agreement with KT in 2019.
