Hwang Kyo-ahn: "Even with 180 seats after ruining the country, the future of this nation is hopeless"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the United Future Party, appealed for support for the party on the 14th, saying, "Even with 180 seats despite ruining the country, the future of this country is despair."
On the 14th, Hwang held a press conference in front of Boshingak in Jongno and said, "The Democratic Party of Korea is arrogant, expecting 180 seats in this general election."
He emphasized, "They are arrogantly deciding the votes that should be given by the people at their own discretion," adding, "If they get 180 seats, the economy will worsen, people's livelihoods will face collapse, income-led growth, nuclear phase-out, and anti-business pro-labor union policies will remain unchanged, Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol will be ousted, and the Cho Kuk couple will smile and be revived."
Hwang continued, "The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, the Korean Teachers and Education Workers Union, and biased civic groups will gain more power, and the forces who cherished socialism and federal unification will attempt constitutional amendments denying liberal democracy," emphasizing, "Only the people have the power to prevent such a situation."
Regarding the Moon Jae-in administration's economic policies over the past three years, he said, "I appeal to you to look back coldly on the past three years and think once more whether this country can continue as it is," adding, "Our economy is defending 2% by pouring in taxpayers' money, rental stickers are posted on every store, and young people are suffering from long-term unemployment."
He said, "They are not thinking about reviving the economy but only saving Cho Kuk," adding, "They say they will oust Prosecutor General Yoon after attacking Cho Kuk, and the Democratic Party consistently covers up and remains silent about their own candidate's misogyny and abusive language. If the people do not clearly warn in this general election, it will bring disaster."
After reading the press conference statement, Hwang also performed a deep bow. He said, "I know well how the people see the United Future Party," adding, "We may be seen as inadequate children in the eyes of the people, but we will reflect more and improve more. We will take criticism and reproach as a whip to change and change again."
