On the 13th, Gunsan Police Station in Jeonbuk announced that they have arrested and are investigating A (33) on charges of fraud and others.
According to the police, A is suspected of using personal information of customers who came to open mobile phone accounts at a mobile phone sales agency in Naun-dong, Gunsan City, from April last year until recently, to pay for game money or sell it online for cash.
There are eight confirmed victims, and the damage is reported to amount to about 30 million won.
The police stated that most of the victims were elderly people who were not familiar with using mobile phones.
The police started the investigation based on complaints from the victims, tracked the mobile phone payment records, and arrested A.
During the police investigation, A reportedly stated, "I did it because I needed money."
