Yeonggwang-gun Launches Comprehensive Spring Road Maintenance Including Road Sign Improvements
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeon Seong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Jun-seong) announced on the 13th that it has launched a ‘spring road maintenance campaign’ for various road facilities whose functions have deteriorated due to winter snow removal operations.
This road maintenance is carried out to provide a safe and pleasant road environment and to prevent disasters in advance by maintaining road shoulders and removing sediment deposited on road surfaces in preparation for the upcoming summer heavy rains.
The county will prioritize urgent maintenance of road slopes and pavements and conduct a comprehensive maintenance of 260 km of roads (2 delegated national highways totaling 26 km, 5 local highways totaling 71 km, and 23 county roads totaling 163 km) by the 15th of next month.
During this spring maintenance campaign, the county will focus on repairing potholes on road surfaces, maintaining cleanliness of road facilities, preserving the functions of structures such as bridges, maintaining safety and drainage facilities, managing areas at risk of rockfalls and landslides, and improving road signs.
In particular, emphasis will be placed on repairing roads damaged and deteriorated during last winter’s cold wave and thawing period, eliminating inconveniences caused by potholes, and preventing safety accidents.
