'Autonomous Patrol Vehicles' Operate at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology
GIST Signs MOU with Hwain Special Vehicles and Autonomous A2G
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Junho] Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) has partnered with domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to research unmanned autonomous driving platforms.
The GIST Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, Hwain Special Vehicle Co., Ltd., a Gwangju-based automobile parts manufacturer and special vehicle specialist, and Autonomous A2 Co., Ltd., a promising startup in autonomous vehicles, have signed a written memorandum of understanding to create an AI-centered future automotive industry ecosystem.
Under this agreement, GIST and the SMEs will engage in mutual personnel exchanges in the AI-based future automobile sector (autonomous driving and autonomous vehicles for specific purposes), establish a cooperative system for AI technology development, collaborate to create an AI-based future autonomous vehicle industry ecosystem promoted by Gwangju Metropolitan City, and efficiently advance 'research and development of autonomous vehicles for specific purpose vehicles.'
Through this agreement, GIST will pilot operate autonomous patrol cars and unmanned delivery vehicles. Additionally, the results of this agreement will be demonstrated in the Gwangju Regulatory Free Zone.
