Korea Environment Corporation Publishes Casebook on Public Environmental Facility Odor Improvement... "Enhancing Odor Management Capabilities"
Analysis of Odor Technology Diagnosis Cases at 715 Public Environmental Facilities
Introduction to Major Odor Issues and Improvement Types
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] The Korea Environment Corporation announced on the 12th that it will publish the "Public Environmental Facility Odor Technology Diagnosis Casebook" for systematic odor management of public facilities. The Korea Environment Corporation plans to distribute it to related organizations starting from the 14th.
This casebook contains information such as the status of odor generation by public environmental facility and process, and improvement measures based on diagnosis results.
According to the analysis data from the Korea Environment Corporation, the total odor concentration by process was highest in food logistics waste treatment facilities among public environmental facilities. The place where the most complex odors occurred was the drying facility in the food logistics treatment process. Complex odors refer to odors generated by the mixture of two types of odor-causing substances such as hydrogen sulfide and amines.
In addition, major odor improvement cases include changing the existing open process to a sealed structure and installing odor collection equipment that can trap and purify odors.
The Korea Environment Corporation has conducted odor technology diagnoses on a total of 715 public environmental facilities nationwide over five years since 2014.
Public environmental facilities include public sewage, public wastewater, livestock manure, and food logistics waste treatment facilities, and various odor substances are generated depending on the type of facility.
A representative from the Korea Environment Corporation stated, "We plan to promote the enhancement of odor management capabilities of public environmental facilities by sharing odor improvement cases."
He added, "We hope this casebook can be used as a reference for private companies to register as professional odor technology diagnosis institutions."
The casebook will be distributed from the 14th to public environmental facility operators, local government officials, odor-related academic societies, and other related organizations. It will also be available for anyone to view on the Korea Environment Corporation website.
