Wuxi Xishan District, China Sends Quarantine Supplies to Gwangju Buk-gu, Sister City
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Moon In) announced on the 12th that Xishan District, Wuxi City, China (无?市 ?山?), a sister city with which it has maintained a friendly cooperative relationship since 2011, sent quarantine supplies to prevent COVID-19.
This support is known to be a reciprocation for Buk-gu sending 2,400 masks and a letter to Xishan District in February, when COVID-19 began to spread significantly in China.
The received supplies include 30,000 surgical and dental masks and 600 medical protective suits, which arrived at Buk-gu Office on the 10th after approval by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and customs clearance procedures.
Jiang Qun (蔣群), Standing Committee Member of Xishan District, conveyed through the letter, "We hope this helps protect the lives and health of Buk-gu residents," and expressed a willingness to cooperate by saying, "Let us overcome COVID-19 through the efforts of the peoples of both countries."
Buk-gu plans to distribute 30,000 masks from the supplies sent by China to those in self-quarantine and vulnerable groups, and the 600 protective suits to screening clinics and hospitals.
