"91 Cases of COVID-19 Reinfection After Recovery... Epidemiological and Clinical Investigations Underway" (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] The number of cases in South Korea where patients who had been declared recovered from COVID-19 later showed symptoms again and tested positive has increased to 91.
Jung Eun-kyung, head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters for COVID-19, stated at a regular briefing on the afternoon of the 10th, "We are investigating the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of the 91 confirmed re-positive cases identified so far."
The number of re-positive cases among recovered patients has been steadily rising: 51 cases as of the 6th, 65 on the 8th, 74 on the 9th, and 91 on the current day. In Daegu, 25 cases were identified as of the previous day, and at the Pureun Nursing Home in Bonghwa-gun, Gyeongbuk, 18 out of 36 discharged confirmed patients tested re-positive.

Jung explained, "The immediate response teams from central and local governments are conducting in-depth investigations such as virus isolation and culture, and blood antibody tests to determine whether there is viral shedding or infectivity."
